Delayed Email Service - August 15, 2008
There has been an email issue server-wide that has caused email to be delayed. Sometimes the delay is permanent.
The server has been using Spam Protection that accesses the SpamHaus server to check the senders location and determine if they are black listed. If they are on the black list, then the email is marked as Spam and then blocked.
Well, this service has been slowing some of the email down so much that it is causing obvious problems. Sometimes the service itself if unavailable, so our servers will delay the email until SpamHaus becomes available the the email can be checked.
The problem has been reported the most by those using Gmail web based email, though it has not been confirmed the Gmail has any direct link to the problem. It is most likely the nature of SpamHaus to check emails sent via web-based email thoroughly.
The problem has been temporarily corrected by using an different Spam-checking organization. But more solutions are being researched.
